Special Events over the Year.

World Book Day was celebrated at Chalfont St Giles Junior School with everyone (including the Staff) all dressing up as characters from Roald Dahl books. The day was also spent listening to staff reading extracts from a variety of books and ending with a Quiz. An enjoyable day was had by all!

We also had a "Healthy Eating Week" and the children had a variety of tasks and opportunities to learn all about Healthy Eating, culminating in a magic show which reinforced the importance of eating healthily with some very clever and mystifying tricks.

Also during the year we have had 2 visits from theatre groups. M & M Productions performed their adaptation of 'Oliver Twist', with great audience participation. Two children where given the opportunity to perform, playing characters of 'pick pockets'

An annual event has been the Sponsored Walk, here all the children walk round the school helping to raise funds to be spent in school on themselves. The children all dress up in fancy dress and have a great time.
Sports Day is another special event - made even more exciting this year by the appearance of several Wasps Rugby Players and 'Stinger' the mascot for Wasps. This year Palliser took the honours winning overall.

Hobbies Day and Project Week were two new events that took place this year. During Hobbies Day the children had the opportunity to show their hobbies to the rest of the school - we had horse riding, dancing, snowboarding, cricket, karate, sailing, model building, rocks and mineral collections, you name it somebody was displaying their hobby. Parents and visitors had the opportunity to visit and experience the wide range of talents that the children have at Chalfont St Giles School.

Project Week involved each year group looking closely at a particular topic - Year 3 chose Space, Year 4 - A Village in India, Year 5 - World War II and Year 6 did a mini enterprise scheme, whereby they made items to sell to the rest of the school, but they all had a budget, had to produce business plans, balance sheets -work together in groups and successfully manufacture their chosen items.
