Hi Everyone

The purpose of this note is to give you a brief overview of the PTA, who we are and what we do. And we hope that this will encourage you to either join us on the Committee or simply help out at our many events through out the year.Every parent, guardian or carer of a child attending the School is automatically a member of the PTA. We currently have a Committee of 15 very active members who plan and execute our programme of events that extends throughout the school year. Our aim is twofold, firstly to raise funds to provide additional facilities for the children beyond that which can be funded by the School, and secondly to provide an opportunity for parents to get together and have some fun.

Let me give you a flavour of what we do. We run a series of events throughout the year some of which are primarily for parents eg The Quiz Night and the Local Traders Fair whilst others are purely for the childreneg Hot Dog lunches, the School Disco and the Easter Egg Hunt. There are also a couple of ‘Big’ Events, the Christmas Fair and the Summer BBQ which are for everyone.

The events we put on are also a mixture of those whose main purpose is to raise funds and those which are ‘just for fun’.  Ongoing through the year we recycle mobile phones and print cartridges, and twice a year we have a ‘Bag2School’ fabrics recycling collection. To give you some idea of our successes; in the past 7 years the PTA have contributed well over £50,000 to the School and the ways the funds have been spent include :-
  • A climbing wall for the main hall
  • Staging in the playground, sheltered areas.
  • Helping build the Sensory Garden
  • Bike Racks
  • New sports kit for the Netball, Rugby, Football and Athletics teams
  • Improving the school environment.

This year so far we have funded new play equipment in both playgrounds and also provided new furniture for the library. The things that we are able to do to support our children’s learning depends totally on the funds raised from events and the support of parents. It is very rewarding and invariably great fun. So if you feel able to help either as a Committee member or as a volunteer please send an e-mail, with your contact details, to: Csgjs-pta@hotmail.co.uk or alternatively drop a note into the PTA Box in the School reception area.

PTA EVENTS

Junior School PTA AGM - at the Junior School on Thursday 15th September at 7pm.

The PTA plays a huge role in school life and is a great support to both schools in many ways. Parents of both schools are members of the PTA but it would be great if as many of you as possible can come along to the meeting and show your support. Perhaps even volunteer to help in some way, any offer of help, no matter how small, is always appreciated.

PTA Christmas Fair - Friday 2nd December - 5pm to 8pm
